Lawn treatment

A proper treatment programme feeds your lawn through the year, keeps weeds and moss under control, and includes the Autumn Renovation that makes the biggest difference. All included in one monthly payment.

Professional lawn treatment means feeding, weed control, moss control and renovation work delivered as a coordinated programme, not a one-off spray.

Professionally treated lawn in Essex

What is professional lawn treatment?

Professional lawn treatment is a year-round programme of feeding, weed control, moss control and renovation work. Each treatment is timed to the season, soil conditions and the state of your lawn.

The difference between a treated lawn and an untreated one is visible within weeks. Consistent feeding builds density and colour. Targeted weed treatment keeps broadleaf weeds from spreading. And the Autumn Renovation (scarification, aeration, overseeding and topdressing) compounds year-on-year.

A bag of feed from the garden centre helps for a few weeks. A programme helps for good.

What a treatment programme includes

  • Organic-based seasonal feeds - Four applications through the year, timed to soil temperature and growth stage. We use products like Spring Bio, MO Bacter and Vitax 6X.
  • Targeted weed treatment - Spot-treated as needed, not blanket-sprayed. We address broadleaf weeds as they appear through the growing season.
  • Iron free moss control - We fix the conditions that let moss take over (compaction, thatch, shade) rather than staining it black with iron sulphate. No mess, no staining risk.
  • Autumn Renovation - The most important visit. Scarification, aeration, overseeding and topdressing in one visit. This is where most of the improvement happens.
  • Lawn health report every visit - After each treatment, you get a written assessment of your lawn's condition and what we did.

Your treatment year

1

Visit 1: Spring (March–April)

First feed

The first organic-based feed as soil temperatures rise. Wakes the lawn after winter dormancy and begins weed spot-treatment as weeds start actively growing.

2

Visit 2: Early Summer (May–June)

Summer feed

Second feed to maintain colour and thickness through the growing season. Weed treatment continues as needed. Timing adjusts if conditions are dry.

3

Visit 3: Late Summer (July–August)

Maintenance feed

A lighter application to sustain the lawn without forcing growth. If conditions are dry, we hold off rather than stress the grass. The lawn is assessed ahead of the autumn renovation.

4

Visit 4: Autumn (September–October)

Renovate & restore

The most important visit. Scarification removes thatch and moss, aeration relieves compaction, overseeding fills gaps, and topdressing protects new seed. This is where most of the improvement happens.

5

Visit 5: Follow-up (November–February)

Progress check

A follow-up visit after renovation to check establishment, assess winter condition, and set up spring priorities. If mild conditions allow, we also address any early weed or moss pressure.

Why a programme works better than one-off treatments

A single feed or weed treatment gives a short-term lift. A programme builds on itself:

  • Feeding at the right times builds density and colour that one-off treatments cannot match
  • Weeds are treated as they appear, before they spread and seed
  • Moss is addressed at the root cause (compaction, thatch, shade) rather than temporarily stained with iron sulphate
  • The Autumn Renovation (scarify, aerate, overseed, topdress) compounds year-on-year, each autumn building on the last

How we treat your lawn

  • Organic-based products - We use products like Spring Bio, MO Bacter and Vitax 6X. These feed the soil as well as the grass, building long-term health.
  • No iron sulphate - We don't use iron sulphate for moss control. It stains hard surfaces and only blackens moss without fixing the cause. We remove moss mechanically and improve conditions instead.
  • Spot-treatment, not blanket spraying - Weed control is targeted to problem areas. We don't blanket-spray the entire lawn when only a few patches need attention.
  • Timed to conditions - We adjust timing based on soil temperature, rainfall and grass growth stage. If conditions aren't right, we wait rather than waste a visit.

Lawn treatment questions

How many treatments does my lawn get per year?
Five visits per year: spring, early summer, late summer, autumn, and a follow-up. Across those visits, your lawn receives four seasonal feeds plus targeted weed and moss treatment as needed. The autumn visit is the Autumn Renovation (scarification, aeration, overseeding and topdressing).
What products do you use?
Organic-based products including Spring Bio, MO Bacter and Vitax 6X. These feed the soil as well as the grass. We do not use iron sulphate for moss control.
Is lawn treatment safe for pets and children?
We use organic-based feeds and avoid iron sulphate entirely. We recommend keeping pets and children off the lawn for 24 hours after a weed treatment application as a precaution.
Can I book a one-off treatment instead of a plan?
We can quote for standalone treatments like scarification, aeration or a one-off feed. Book a free survey and we will assess what your lawn needs and give you a clear price.
How quickly will I see results?
Feeding results are visible within 2-3 weeks as the grass greens up and thickens. The biggest change comes after the Autumn Renovation, with new seed establishing over 4-8 weeks. Season-on-season, the improvement compounds as each renovation builds on the last.
