Frequently asked questions

Honest answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, get in touch - we're happy to chat.

What happens at the free lawn survey?
We visit your lawn and spend about 20 minutes assessing its condition - grass health, weed and moss levels, thatch buildup, shade, drainage. We measure the lawn to confirm the exact monthly price. If renovation work like scarification and overseeding would help, we’ll schedule that into your plan (it’s included). If the lawn needs a proper reset first, we’ll quote a one-off restoration separately. No charge, no obligation, no hard sell.
Is it safe for pets and children?
All products we use are safe once dry, which typically takes 1-2 hours. We’ll let you know after each visit when it’s fine to use the lawn again. If you have specific concerns about a product, just ask - we’ll share the data sheet.
What’s included in the Annual Autumn Renovation?
Every autumn, your lawn gets the Annual Autumn Renovation: scarification (minimum two passes with a professional machine, all waste cleared from your lawn), aeration to relieve compaction, overseeding with quality grass seed suited to your conditions, and a light organic topdressing (2-3mm) to support recovery. This is a maintenance renovation to keep a treated lawn looking great, and it's included in The Lawn Care Plan - not charged as an extra. If your lawn needs more than that, we'll recommend a Full Lawn Restoration at your survey.
How is Greener different from the big franchises?
The biggest difference is what’s included. Most franchises charge extra for the mechanical work that actually transforms a lawn: scarification, aeration, overseeding, and topdressing. We include all of that as standard in The Lawn Care Plan. Beyond that, we use organic-based feeds, targeted weed treatment (not blanket spray), Iron Free Moss Control (no sulphate, safer for pets), and you get a lawn health report after every visit. It’s also owner-operated, so George looks after your lawn personally.
How long before I see results?
Visible improvement typically shows within 4-8 weeks of the first treatment - greener colour, fewer weeds, moss drying back. Real transformation builds over a full season (3-6 months). A lawn with heavy moss or compacted soil needs a full annual cycle including scarification to fully turn around. We’re always honest about realistic timelines at your survey.
How does the direct debit work?
You pay a fixed monthly amount via GoCardless direct debit, spread evenly over 12 months. This covers all treatments and visits for the year, so there are no surprise bills. Your price is fixed for the 12-month period.
Can I cancel?
Plans run in 12-month cycles so we can deliver the full seasonal programme, from spring feeds through the Autumn Renovation. After that, you continue month-to-month with 30 days' notice. On cancellation, we settle fairly by value so nobody overpays. If you have paid more than the value delivered, we refund the difference. Full details are in our terms and conditions.
What if I’m not happy with the results?
Talk to George directly. Because George knows your lawn, issues get spotted and addressed quickly. If something’s been missed or needs tweaking, we’ll sort it, not hide behind a customer service team.
Is it really organic?
We use organic-based feeds - products like Spring Bio, MO Bacter, and Vitax 6X that feed the soil biology, not just the grass. These aren’t chemical-free, but they’re chosen for their soil-conditioning properties. For stubborn weeds, we use targeted spot spraying - directly onto the weed, not across the whole lawn. We’re upfront about this: we’re eco-friendlier, not organic. But the approach is more considered than blanket-spraying everything.
Do you cover my area?
We're based in Tiptree and serve towns across Essex, including Colchester, Witham, Chelmsford, Braintree, Halstead, and Maldon. Check your postcode on our areas page, or get in touch and we'll confirm.
